Wheat berries
- 400 g Water
- 100 g Wheat Berries
- 1/4 t Medium-Grain Salt
- 1 t Butter
Yields 300 g cooked wheat berries.
- Rinse wheat berries several times until water runs mostly clear.
- Soak (optional) at least 12 hours.
- Toast (optional) in oven at 190ºC (375ºF) for 10 minutes until fragrant.
- Cook. Add all ingredients to saucepan. Bring to boil, cover, reduce to low heat, and simmer 45-60 minutes (35 minutes if pre-soaked) until chewy. Remove from heat and drain any excess water.
- Fluff wheat berries with a fork.
Keep the grains covered by adding boiling water as necessary.
