French toast
- 2 Eggs
- 120 g Milk
- Medium-Grain Salt
- 1 t Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 t Cinnamon, ground
- 1/4 t Allspice Corns, ground
- Stale Bread, thickly sliced
- 2 T Unsalted Butter, for frying
- Maple Syrup or Jam, for serving
- Preheat oven to 200ºC (400ºF).
- Mix batter. Thoroughly whisk together eggs, milk, and seasonings.
- Soak bread slices in the batter.
- Fry bread slices. Heat butter in a frying pan over medium heat. Add saturated bread slices, and cook about 6 minutes, flipping halfwar, until golden brown.
- Bake. Transfer slices to a baking sheet, and bake 12-15 minutes at 200ºC (400ºF).
- Serve with maple syrup or jam.
Do your best to fully saturate the bread such that a tiny bit of batter is left over.
