French toast

  • 2 Eggs
  • 120 g Milk
  • Medium-Grain Salt
  • 1 t Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 t Cinnamon, ground
  • 1/4 t Allspice Corns, ground
  • Stale Bread, thickly sliced
  • 2 T Unsalted Butter, for frying
  • Maple Syrup or Jam, for serving
  1. Preheat oven to 200ºC (400ºF).
  2. Mix batter. Thoroughly whisk together eggs, milk, and seasonings.
  3. Soak bread slices in the batter.
  4. Fry bread slices. Heat butter in a frying pan over medium heat. Add saturated bread slices, and cook about 6 minutes, flipping halfwar, until golden brown.
  5. Bake. Transfer slices to a baking sheet, and bake 12-15 minutes at 200ºC (400ºF).
  6. Serve with maple syrup or jam.

Do your best to fully saturate the bread such that a tiny bit of batter is left over.
